In light of the historic climate talks at COP21, members of the Queen Mary Young Greens made a trip to Paris to participate in environmental demonstrations and attend the conference (as well as having a good time in Europe!) Despite the state of emergency in France, protests were held across the city of Paris after discussions with police. Here are some photos documenting the happenings of this weekend, and where we were instead of lectures on Friday…
In the beginning of the day, we joined a demonstration in solidarity with indigenous communities who have been left out of the agreement.
There was an area open to the public at the COP21 convention zone – Green Zone!
Here is our president showing that 2 degrees global warming is too greater an allowance!
The Green Party’s partner even found us.
Later on, we went to a Vegan restaurant for dinner – Hank Burger.
On the day the agreement was signed, 350.org held a protest to make sure world leaders went away knowing the people really care about climate change! The colour red was used in memorial of those who have died from climate change across the world.
We even bumped into the leader of The Green Party, Natalie Bennett, and Scottish Greens!
We moved onto a peaceful protest beneath the Eiffel Tower.
Later on, we had a bit of fun inside The Louvre.
We ended the night with Green cocktails (Of course! How else?)
Day 3 began at an Andalusian restaurant. This meal even features ‘vegan caviar!’
Our treasurer took a souvenir home with him.
And we didn’t miss out on the Christmas markets before heading home.
